gematria is an ancient form of numerology that has been used since the first century BC. It is a system of assigning numerical values to letters in the alphabet which is then used to calculate spiritual or prophetic meaning from a person's name, words, and phrases. Gematria has been used for centuries by different cultures and religions, such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
To use Gematria to uncover spiritual messages in a person's name or words of a phrase, one must first understand Gematria's numerical system. Each letter in the alphabet is assigned a numerical value from one to nine, based on its Hebrew equivalent (or Greek for Greek letters). That numerical value is then added numerically for each letter in the phrase or name. Once all of the numbers have been added, their sum is then divided by either three or seven. Depending upon which divisor you choose – three or seven – will ultimately determine what kind of symbolism that number holds; usually either historical or prophetic symbolism.
For example: if we have the word "Kabbalah" with its six letters, and each given a numerical value according to its Hebrew equivalent: 20 (Kaf) + 2 (Beth) + 2 (Beth) + 1 (Lamed) + 1 (Lamed) + 5 (Heh), we get a sum of 31 when added numerically. When this number is divided by three: 31 / 3 = 10 1/3 = 10 = Yahweh - The Uncreated Creator, which corresponds to divinity.
Alternatively if you were to divide this sum by seven: 31 / 7 = 4 4/7 = 4 = Davar - The Word which corresponds to wisdom.
By introducing some basic Gematria into our everyday life and studying its potential deeper we can gain insights into understanding ourselves and our relationships better—ultimately finding higher meaning within our own lives and understanding better our habits and thought-patterns that drive us forward on the path of self-discovery. Working with Gematria has been known to be deeply transformational - helping us to find insight into ourselves even through seemingly "wrong" decisions because with great hindsight new opportunities arise that can lift us out of darkness into divine light. Therefore, break down your name and words into their numbers—dig even deeper into them—and allow them to reveal hidden truths about your life so that you can open yourself up towards realizations that lie inside your heart
